ABOUT CLAY – Pearls of European Ceramic Art in Fiskars
The Cooperative of Artisans, Designers and Artists in Fiskars ONOMA is pleased to announce the exhibition ABOUT CLAY opening this summer at the Copper Smithy in Fiskars.
ABOUT CLAY brings together a unique selection of top class European ceramic art. Presenting over 40 artists from all around Europe, this is the first time that this specific collection of works will be shown in Finland.
Participants from aboard include: Pálma Babos (HU), Daphne Corregan (FR), Sandra Davolio (DK), Ken Eastman (GB), Bernd Fischer (DE), Yoshimi Futamura (FR), Monika Grycko (IT), Mia E Göransson (SE), Ann van Hoey (BE), Steen Ipsen (DK), Carl Emil Jacobsen (DK), Kiho Kang (DE), Jacques Kaufmann (FR), Torbjørn Kvasbø (NO), Rainer Kurka (DE), Anne Mercedes (GB), Enric Mestre (ES), Deidre McLoughlin (IE), Nero / Alessandro Neretti (IT), Susan O`Byrne (GB), Ruta Pakarklyte (NO), Merete Rasmussen (DK), Fausto Salvi (IT), Silvia Siemes (DE) and Mariko Wada (DK).
Participants from Finland include: Sakari Kannosto, Kirsi Kivivirta, Nathalie Lautenbacher, Matias Liimatainen, Tiia Matikainen, Lotta Mattila, Saana Murtti, Pekka Paikkari, Suku Park, Päivi Rintaniemi, Kristina Riska, Johanna Rytkölä, Anneli Sainio, Kim Simonsson, Riitta Talonpoika, Kati Tuominen-Niittylä and Karin Widnäs.
Invited artists have been chosen for their special approach towards the material and techniques used. The exhibition features abstract forms as well as figurative pieces, ranging from small sculptures to large-scale installations. Highlighting the works of both upcoming and established artists, this collection delves deep into the essence of clay and the many ways it can be formed.
The exhibition is curated by ceramic artist Erna Aaltonen. The architects are Barbro Kulvik and Antti Siltavuori, the exhibition graphics are created by Tommi Jokivaara and the producer is Sanna Nuutinen. The main partner of the exhibition is Fiskars Corporation.
