Oasis considers the interplay between objects, the man and the environment through contemporary art and design. The boundaries of the interior and the exterior are a theme that has become increasingly topical because of climate change and the changing patterns of people in their use of time.
Along with the exhibition permanent improvements have been made to the exhibition area including landscaping and designs for new piers. New outdoor furniture has been designed by invited architects and designers. The choice of artists has been based on their earlier works and the way they in which they have interpreted their thoughts about the environment. There will, for example, be a stone garden, moss garden and floating garden on the river.
