From brushstrokes into solid objects
The works in the exhibition are based on the idea of transforming brushstrokes into solid objects. All the work of the exhibition started with improvised strokes of Chinese brushes on Japanese calligraphy paper.
The fascinating traces of ink have been transformed into three-dimensional objects that retain the sensitivity and feeling of the original brushstrokes. The exhibition includes sculptures, reliefs and textile pieces. Laakkonen has also composed a soundscape for this exhibition to make the experience more holistic.
