5×3 design visions

Copper Smithy, Fiskars
5.2.2012-6.1.2013

5×3 Design Visions is a series of five design exhibitions to be held at the Copper Smithy in Fiskars.

5×3 Design Visions continues the year-round exhibition activities of the Cooperative of Artisans, Designers and Artists in Fiskars, which have launched alongside its established summer exhibitions. The series is one of the events produced by the Fiskars Cooperative as part of the programme of World Design Capital Helsinki 2012.

5×3 Design Visions will display interesting Finnish and foreign design in five exhibitions, each of which will feature three individual designers or groups of designers. The invited participants are both established masters of their field and young designers at the beginning of their careers. The materials and techniques that they use follow the principles of sustainable development. The designers also share a unique and fresh attitude to their work.

These exhibitions invite viewers into the designer’s “kitchen”, where often things of possibly greater interest take place than in the “drawing-room”. This experience is reinforced by presenting the design process with sketches, scale models and prototypes alongside the final versions. We hope the result will be a continuum of intimate showings in which visitors can follow the work of designers more closely than in traditional exhibitions of design.
