Saara Vainio is a visual artist and art teacher living in Hamina. Vainio studied art education at the University of Art and Design Helsinki and classical art and traditional portrait painting at the Repin Institute. She paints large-scale, finely detailed realistic watercolors that blur the line between everyday life and fairy tales, depicting playful children and ordinary nature that has grown to magical, gigantic proportions. In Vainio’s paintings fairy tales and everyday life meet in the form of magical realism.
